Eunea Kim took her first breath on June 10, 1968, and breathed her last on December 16, 2025, while being held in Victor’s arms. She was the first child born to TaeHwan Kim and JungJa Hwang and was raised in a home deeply shaped by faith and service to Christ.
Her father was a church planter and pastor, and from him she inherited a deep love for the gospel and the life of the Church. From her mother, she inherited musical gifts that became a meaningful expression of her faith throughout her life. These influences shaped her calling to Christian education, worship, and mission.
Eunea graduated from Ewha Womans University in Korea with a degree in Church Education. She later spent a year studying in London, England, before continuing her theological training at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There she earned a Master’s degree in Church Education Curriculum, followed by a Master of Theological Studies.
Her calling led her beyond academic study into a global mission. Eunea served faithfully on the mission fields in India and the Philippines, offering her gifts with humility, compassion, and devotion to Christ and his Church.
On December 17, 1994, Eunea married Victor. The Lord blessed their marriage with two children, Johannah and Joshua, whom she treasured with an undying love. She passed on to them many of her interests and joys, including music, art, literature, cuisine, and travel. Indeed, she was a world traveler.
Together, Eunea and Victor served at Third Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, before moving to Edmonton, Canada, where they planted a new church. Eunea poured her life into loving and serving her neighbors who have not experienced the love of Christ, and the family of mosaicHouse Church, offering her devotion to the Lord through quiet faithfulness and steadfast care. She was often described as having a quiet confidence—gentle, grounded, and deeply rooted in Christ.
Eunea is survived by her mother in Korea, Gideon, her younger brother in Costa Rica, and Sinae, her younger sister in Virginia, along with her husband, children, and a wide community who loved her deeply.
She is greatly missed by all who knew her. Yet we grieve with hope, knowing that she is now in glory with the Lord, having heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
